Written July 2, 2008:

Recently,  I was reading the latest Sisterchicks book in the series by Robin Jones Gunn. Each book has a theme verse that the character(s) will constantly return to. In Robin Jones Gunn’s latest work in this series, Sisterchicks go Brit, the theme verse was Jeremiah 24:7. Until I read that book, I had no idea that this verse even exsisted! It’s such a beautiful verse!

“And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart” (Jer. 24:7).

I looked up the word “heart” in the original Hebrew language. I discovered that it means “the totality of man’s inner or immaterial nature. These are the deepest, innermost feelings.” Wow! In modern day language, God has given each one of us the capacity to be able to known Him with our deepest and innermost feelings.

Next, I looked up the word, “know” in the original Hebrew language. I found that it means “to perceive, aquire knowledge, to be familiar, [to know initmately].” Wow, wow, wow!!! So God has given each one of us the capacity to intimately known Him with our deepest and innermost feelings! How amazing!

Finally, I looked up the word “return” in the original Hebrew language. It means “to turn back, come back, to turn around, a movement back to the point of departure.” *jumps up and down* This verse is so totally amazing!

Doesn’t this verse fill you with hope and encouragement!? It speaks of hope in that if you’ve gotten side-tracked in your walk with the Lord, you can still return–pick up where you left off! What a merciful and loving God we serve!

To recap: God has given each one of us the capacity to intimately known Him with our deepest and innermost feelings. We will be His, and He will be our’s; we’ll come back to where we left Him with all of ourselves.
