“Lord, You have assigned me my portion and my cup, and have made my lot secure” (Ps. 16:5 NIV). This verse seems to point out that whatever happens is assigned. It doesn’t happen by accident. God didn’t allot you someone else’s circumstances. No. It’s all been assigned.

Yesterday morning, I was planning on not going to piano lessons. It was after graduation, and I had been thinking and came to my own conclusion that I was done with lessons after graduation. There was one small problem. I hadn’t told my mom my final decision.
Well, she wanted me to go, and I ddin’t want to. Needless to say, that didn’t go over too well. In the end, I went–outwardly–, but inside I didn’t. In God’s eyes–because He sees the heart–, I didn’t do it though. *ouch* When that happened yesterday, I had to remind myself, whatever happens is assigned.

God gives each one of us different assignments each day. He giaves them to us so that we might be changed. Not into some story book princess; not into an angel; not so we can move into another world. No, but so we can be transformed into the likeness of His Son, Jesus Christ in this world. You see, the secret is Christ in me, not me in some other circumstances.

“He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.”
